Have been here many times and while the venue is fraying at the edges a bit, the sushi just tastes better than the rest. They have what must be close to 50 different kinds of rolls to choose from, which are the star of the show, sashimi choices are good with standard roll choices quite limited. I have found the philly roll, with cream cheese to be a highlight, the cheese adds a creamy texture that balances out the other flavours. The avocado they use must be imported daily as you can actually taste it in the rolls, which is unusual. Another dish that makes a nice counterpoint to all the rolls is the stir fried beef, which comes in small pieces and is delectable

Downstairs is the hotpot version of Hatsune, the interior is more impressive than upstairs and there is a great bar area towards the bar to take it all in.

Bottom line: if you want to impress someone, thru sushi, Hatsune is the ticket. Booking ahead is alawys a good idea

Much like Cheesecake Factory in the US is THE place for people that don't like Cheesecake, let's be perfectly honest, Hatsune is the place for people that don't like sushi. Yeah, I said it! All the rolls here (the only reason to come) tend to come in a cloyingly sweet sauce, or a spicy sauce, or a sauce that's like salad dressing, or some other kind of gimmick. Even if the fish is incredibly fresh here (and I'm not saying its not), how would you know under all the different sauces and other ingredients that go into their rolls?!?

Don't get it twisted, this is totally American style sushi, but there ain't anything wrong with that and some of the roll combos are pretty damn tasty.

Prices here ain't cheap at around RMB70 per roll, but 2 rolls per person is enough to fill up most people. A great spot, but I'm not sure if its the best sushi you can get in the capital.

The best in Beijing, I love it and I recommend it, a bit more expensive than other places but it is worth.

hatsune is an all-time favorite sushi spot amongst me and my friends. it's not your traditional japanese sushi though. hatsune is californian-style sushi, where the fresh rolls come in unique flavors and combinations.

their long list of rolls come with witty names and can cater to even the pickiest diner's taste buds. some favorites of mine are the pimp my roll, 119 roll and motorolla. don't feel overwhelmed by the crazy combo of ingredients in the rolls, i promise you..hatsune definitely achieves in making their sushi tasty AND elegant.

they've also got a dynamic range of salads. all fresh and are the perfect appetizer before your main courses. they're not overpowering and won't stuff your tummy up. if you're a wasabi lover, try their salad with the wasabi dressing and be prepared to have your sinuses cleared for a week.

if you're a teppanyaki fan, try their steak teppanyaki. it's served on a small sizzling plate with mushrooms, chinese bean sprouts and pumpkin. great for sharing with friends! the steak is tender, and cooked medium-well, so the meat isn't dry or chewy.

hatsune is ideal for friends, family, or a place to impress a date! just be warned, it's pricey (that's why it doesnt get 5 stars)..but you're getting amazing quality here.

I try to avoid Hatsune to the greatest degree possible. If I wanted bizarre combinations of fruit and fish wrapped in a fairytale name, I probably would have moved to Orlando. Beijing has such a fantastic range of sushi joints at the same price point with fresh fish flown in daily from Tokyo or other deepwater ports of call. Why dignify the fast-food ethic of Hatsune with such praise?

Sushi is a food that should be all about technique and ingredients. Hatsune lacks both, but attempts to make up for it by getting "creative." I'll stick with the real food, thanks.

Additionally, the range of sakes is pathetic, and if you want some other kind of tipple during dinner, forget about it.

And twice I've been treated rudely by waiters when I expressed a desire to stay within a certain budget. Not an experience I would like to repeat, especially after waiting up to an hour for a table.

I've been here many times throughout my years in Beijing and I feel like this is the best sushi place in town. Normally I come for the weekend buffet, which used to cost 158 kuai a person - a sweet deal. However, about a year ago they changed it to 210. Not sure if it has gone up since then though. If you're a big sushi eater, then this still might be a good deal for you, since ordering al a carte can be quite expensive.

The decor is nice and the places is very clean. For an appetizer I would suggest the Agadashi Tofu. Sashimi is always fresh here and as for the rolls I would suggest the Motorola roll, Butterfly roll, and the Philly Roll. Other rolls are good too I just can't remember the names of them right now. The cod fish glazed with miso I believe is also very good. I usually get at least 2 orders of that. The all you can eat on weekends is great because about 90% of the menu is available to order. Otherwise, like I said earlier, it can be pretty pricey.

Hatsune and its sister restaurant Haiku are the best places for sushi in Beijing. Sure, you can find less expensive sushi elsewhere but they simply don’t compare. Most of hatsune's menu is a blend of California style and Japanese style sushi. Try the 119 roll; Tuna fish with hot sauce. It is exquisite! The restaurants itself is very modern and welcoming but watch your step when traveling through the restaurant. I have tripped on several occasions on the way to the bathroom. Service is top notch as with most of Alan’s restaurants. Matsuko is good as well and in the same area of town but I would only recommend it for the lunch buffet.

I like Hatsune - I enjoy their consistancy in product, fresh ingredients and motorolas - mmm. The small starters they bring are fresh and tasty, the staff are courteous and the sashimi is delicious. It is a little expensive if you are really hungry - but I love it. Does lose a few points for the dodgy cold bathrooms. But I will be going back!

By Beijing standards this resto is definitely a 4 among sushi options, but it just isn't the orgasmic experience people give it credit for. Hatsune has an exhaustive list of rolls with imaginative names. The freshness of the fish is up to par. Prices are not cheap, nor are they out of the question. And that's that.

Raw Fish Fetish
I have a thing for raw fish. Sushi stands as my favorite food! If you love it as much as I do then here are several restaurants to try.
