This is a great restaurant to begin with it doesn't look like somebody opened with a credit card ( like many other places around town) , very warm atmosphere and well executed , high quality American food and drink ( 5 Star Standard) . The menu is limited since the gas supply in mall is not due to be available until October however they will have their FULL menu which include big thick juicy steaks , grilled seafood dishes and REAL BBQ items all presented with sophistication and class, just as they do in the very busy Union Bar and Grille in Hong Kong. Best Burger in Beijing hands down ( including tastiest French fries)Leave room dessert , the Molten Chocolate Cake is TDF!!! ( to die for)Oh yeah they also have a REAL American Chef in the kitchen to insure the American food standards and tastes are spot on........this is a Chef's kind of place so I'm sure you would enjoy it ,( cant help it if some don't get it you get what you pay for) , its all about the food gang!~ The food spot on in Union!~

This is where I go to what the game. Arrive early and you’ll not only have a great seat with nothing between you and the TV but you’ll also be at the bar, where you can readily order beers throughout the match. Happy hour is the time to come if you are a session drinker. If you’re at the bar the waitress normally warns you when happy hour is about to stop. At that point you can order as many as you want and they will credit them all as happy hour priced (even though they arrive when you are ready to drink them). The bar snacks are potato chips made from real Idaho potatoes. As long as you’re there they will fill up your plate. If you’re ordering I would suggest going for the chicken wings, the hamburger, or the Rueben. Most of the other items on the menu (I’ve heard) are good but these are the ones I normally get. Lastly, service is better in this restaurant than any other in Sanlitun. The manager, Andy, knows hospitality and he is almost always on the premises. Even when he’s not the restaurant runs like a well oiled machine.

let’s all march lock step to Union! This restaurant bar is the upscale version of TGIF. While that may sound to be a negative I mean it as praise. I go to Union when I want to have a reliable experience. It’s clean, the staff speak English and Chinese, service is good, and they games are always on one of the many flat screen tvs. Food wise, Union is a bit on the expensive side but I’ve never been dissatisfied with the burger, wings, steak or even the free chips that magically arrive when I order a beer. Union is at its best as a sanity check – when you’ve spent too much time in Chinese restaurants its always nice to get some really good food and service to remind you of what dining out is supposed to be like.

I had lunch with an old friend here last week. I normally pick union when I want to have a conversation with whomever I’m with. She ordered the lunch for 2 while I ordered the wings and a coke. I like Union. I think the service is good and the food is good as well especially if you know what to order. Like the reviewers before me I would recommend the wings and the Reuben. Unlike the reviewers before me, I would suggest you go during happy hour. The prices are pretty steep otherwise. Take this lunch for example. Two people for lunch and the bill was 250RMB. It turns out that free refills are not included despite that the coke is on tap. In the end I paid 80rmb for coke (I was thirsty). Great restaurant but unnecessarily pricy.

Good place to “work” while surfing the internet. Inside is a bit dark. Union has the best Chicken wings in China. The Ruben sandwich is also very good. The bbq chicken is big and tasty. Best to go during happy hour for two for one beers

I’ve been working the late night bar and restaurant circuit lately trying to keep the World Cup fun and interesting. Union was on my list of ‘heard-the-hype-so-must-try’ places. First, Carlsberg was discounted for the World Cup (star). Second, sitting at the bar I had both the projection screen and the flat screen within view. They also had a long high table in front of the bar that was great for those that didn’t arrive in time to sit up front. Third, service was great. I asked and I received. There was very little wait between the two each time I was greeted with a smile. Our request for more chips - after they had stored them away - was granted much to my party’s surprise (2 stars). Fourth, the chicken wings were so good we decided to order them twice (star). Finally, when the bill came we were all shocked how little it was after two World Cup games and plenty of beers (star). By my accounting, Union is a 5 star restaurant / bar. Caveat: if you’re going specifically to watch the World Cup you’re not going to feel the rowdy sports pub vibe here at Union. If that’s your scene, you will need to go to Paddy’s, Goose & Duck or Frank’s.

The only place in Beijing I know where you can get good bottomless coffee and bottomless ice tea. They are both at RMB20. Union has a solid wireless internet connection and it regularly hosts freelancers looking for a good place to work. Service is good in general, food is slightly pricey, but the food and atmosphere makes up for it. They regularly broadcast rugby and football (the European type). |

The few times I’ve visited Union to eat or meet for a drink it’s always been at night but yesterday I discovered they have a surprisingly good breakfast. It’s none too cheap but it’s good. I ordered the two eggs with toast, ham, hash browns, rye bread and coffee. My friend ordered the spicy chicken wings (for breakfast), eggs benedict, and a coffee. Together our bill totaled 225 RMB. Not exactly an inexpensive way to start the day. Nevertheless, I was impressed that the eggs were done exactly how I had requested and that the ham was in fact two thick slabs of real ham. The rye bread was thick and again, the real thing. Hash browns were a bit anemic but in the end it didn’t matter because I couldn’t finish everything anyhow. And, like every diner in the USA, there were free refills on the coffee. For an American breakfast, this turned out to be a surprisingly good place. I will be back!

Overall this place is pretty good. A little expensive, but it's aimed at westerners so what do you expect. French fries were great, entrees were good but not memorable.

I went with a large group to Union last night. The last time I visited was shortly after it opened. Back then I wasn’t impressed. What impressed me this time wasn’t that they renovated (they didn’t) but that it was so packed. When calling to reserve one we almost weren’t able to do so. What happened before then and now is anyone’s guess. Service is good and mostly in English. There are the usual mistakes but they are all innocent enough. Nothing has changed with the interior décor – dark and brick it achieves the American east coast or NYC look. Food is American and is fairly good. My burger was 78 RMB and was highly overpriced for what I received but it was still okay. The French fries were not that impressive but again, okay. What I found strangest about the evening is they kicked everyone out at 10pm. It felt as if I was back in suburban USA again. We probably would have stayed for another two hours if allowed but, unlike the Chinese establishments that stay open as long as you are buying, they wouldn’t have it. Happy hour is a good deal otherwise Union is slightly better than average in nice atmosphere.
