While I am by no means a Beijing park expert, Tuanjiehu is a beautiful park. Overshadowed by the nearby and bigger Chaoyang park, Tuanjiehu is pretty, clean and lively. There are also quieter spots if that's what you want. The water pool/park, complete with wave pool, is only 25RMB. Paddle boats, plenty of activities for kids, a bunch of weird Chinese workout equipment painted five different colors, what more could you ask for? They also have two different kinds of bumper cars, and these gigantic floating hamster wheels where you can watch other people's kids (or your own) run until they fall down and cry. It's hilarious.
Outside the park are also a couple places I'd recommend. If you exit out the east gate, head north on Tuanjiehu. There's a great fruit stand that's open virtually ever hour of the day only a block or two down on your right just past the opening of the street, and if you want to walk two blocks farther, there is a wonderful hole-in-the-wall Baozi place called "some character I don't recognize + gongfu baozi" on the right just past the intersection. There are tons of Chinese people there every day too, so trust them not me. Both are great places to get a snack to take to the park. |
