Located above SPR and Beer Mania, this is a hidden gem of the unexpected sort. I stumbled upon Iron Chef late night on my way to Glen which is next door. What I noticed more than anything else was the design inside; very clean, modern and white, it intrigued me to return. Another sushi restaurant it is not although it is Japanese cuisine. Following the recommendations of the waiter, we ordered the cod and stew / hot pot / I don’t know what it was but it was good served in a run of the mill ceramic stove pot. Barbecued Cod is good anywhere but here it was like eating a butter dipped flaky but moist bbq’d masterpiece. It was so good we ordered three more. Our stew was, as close as I can tell, inspired by the roadside malatang – shish kabobs made of vegetables, quail eggs, fish balls, tofu, mushrooms, and mu er – all cooked by dipping them in the boiling broth. The taste was for the most part blissful and if nothing else a nice change of pace. The menu also has sushi but we didn’t order any. There is also an extensive selection of sake but again, we didn’t order any.
