Perhaps for some people drinking wine of the same vintage that the menu states is not important, for me however it is. Due to the experience related to vintages a friend and I had last night, I can give MODO only one star.
First red wine we ordered was 2 years younger than the menu suggested. At first the waitress tried the "it's all the same" and after she declined giving a discount we chose another bottle. That came back 4 (FOUR) years younger than the menu states. Bottle number 3 was 3 years too young and bottle number 4 was 1 year younger than what it said on the menu.
By that time my friend already had finished the tapas he ordered (tasted great according to him), and we decided to spend our money at a venue that takes their business a bit more seriously.
If the staff would have offered a discount - after all why pay the exact same price for a bottle that is FOUR years younger? - or perhaps a glass of Champagne on the house when they realised that even the 4th bottle was not the right vintage, we could have been persuaded to stay. However, the only excuse that was offered each time was "bu hao yise", incompetent at best.
And think of how easy it is to solve these problems! Enoterra uses the simplest way: there are no vintages on their menu, you can ask for it and then decide whether you want it or not.
MODO if vintages are important to you, go there only for the food.
