I have been to Mugals several times but my most recent visit has confirmed it: This is the best value for money lunch buffet in Beijing. Unlike many other options for an Indian lunch, the buffet here features 2 - 3 salads, dal, rice, and a variety of meat based dishes. Far from the average dry chicken dish, there was beef, lamb and chicken...and plenty of it! Passable naan and a soft drink is included. The highlight of the meal for me was, however, the discovery of a sinfully good dessert. Turkay is a Pakistani bread pudding that should not be missed. Its so good I can still taste it. Creamy, sweet, melt in your mouth with little crunchy pistachios. Divine. I would go for a cup of tea and turkay if it was on the menu. Sadly, its not always available but be sure to ask Samia, the ever present owner/manager if she can turn some up in the kitchen. The staff is efficient and having the owner on sight, and in the kitchen, everyday makes a difference. Feel free to ask for suggestions or about the dishes as there is always a lot of information available. My final recommendation? People watch. I always seem to see South Asian staff members from other Indian restaurants around town. And if that isn't a recommendation for the food here, I don't know what is.
