Stopped by here for a client lunch recently - read the great reviews below and decided to give it a try. Its very French, which means very small portions, interesting tastes/food combination's and a massive wine list- here it resembles a large coffee table book and must contain at least a few hundred choices. We went with the French sommeliers recommendation, a nice white wine. They offer two fix prixe menus for lunch, one comes in about 600 Rmb and the other about 180Rmb. There is also the daily chef's recommendation, which we chose.
First up was a broth with a small piece of duck and a vegetable creation- given it only required maybe 5 spoonfuls to complete it didn't test the palette too excessively and is probably designed to setup the next two courses, the first of which was crab in a cold green hazelnut soup. Following was a small 2 piece tuna steak with a small accompaniment of white vegetables. With dessert under the belt there was no need to undo any buttons and I was a bit concerned a trip to the noodle shop might be needed later.
Alas, being a bit bourgeois i'm not sure how great this meal was other than it was expensive, different and not too filling. One of my guests, who previously spent time living in Paris and is a big pan of french food, was pleasantly satisfied with the experience and its genuine frenchness. That's good enough for me- if your looking for a high class authentic french meal, give Le Pre Lenotre a try
