Tried the new Taj at Euro Plaza, which is to be Shunyi's first proper shopping mall- so far just a handful of shops are open, including a cold stone creamery and a couple other restaurants.
I had become a bit jaded with eating Indian in Beijing as some places just don't always nail many of the basics properly, especially tandoori chicken. I think you need an Indian in charge of the kitchen who knows the food inside out from cooking it back in India for the locals. However on this trip, all the selections hit the spot, with excellent tandoori chicken, naan, tikka and vegetable curry. The service was good, although there were few other customers so that's to be expected.
The menu is extensive and regardless of your interest in this kind of food you will be able to find some choices that are familiar. Now all you need to do is trek out to Shunyi for the experience
