Every time I eat here I regret it. Go for the books, tolerate the caffinated beverages but do yourself a favour and skip the food.
The Bookworm is fun, full of interesting people and makes a drinkable, if not memorable, cup of coffee. But the food is expensive, poor value and, today at least, barely edible. Add in the horrid service and I will never order from the menu again.
Today after we attend the weekly kid's book club (Sundays, 4 and up, free, all welcome!) which is fun, we stayed for lunch. Wrong decision. The pasta with mushroom cream sauce was awful. The sauce was thin and tasteless, and seemingly made with milk, no salt and less interest in the final product. The noodles were so overdone the broke every time I attempted to put them on the fork. The only bright spot was the selection of mushrooms - a nice variety, well prepared and dumped on top of the tasteless pasta.
I was sharing this meal with my very hungry child, and yet it took 3 attempts to get her a glass of water, another 3 requests to get her a fork, and 2 requests to get salt and pepper. I wish I had just got up and got them myself. Or better yet, attempted to return the whole thing to the kitchen and walked to any one of the other great restaurants in the area.
