Hmmm... I could have sworn I wrote a review about SALT before, but seems to have gone missing? maybe it was a dream from a parallel dimension)!
I was supposed to meet up with a friend of mine in Lido (since I had never gone to Lido before); and we decided to goto the most expensive and best Korean restaurant (according to her, she is 1/2 Korean). But alas, when we reached, the place had already closed the kitchen.
So decided to creep to SALT. Place located on top of this supposedly cool bar; walked up the steps; greeted by gray / black and lines of candles. clean looking place. interesting diagonal layouts for tables.
Look @ the white line, and ordered 2 whites (/glass), 1 was nice; the other white seemed to have been open for a looonnngg time.. Anyways, the waiter was quite happy to change it for us; and seemed to be better after that.
We both ordered the 3-course @ 188/- and after a chat with Gaby (owner); she was quite nice to prepare the meal with a vegetarian option, since what was there, didnt look too appetizing to me.
The 1st course was the potato stew/soup and was quite interesting. The olive oil/ other stuff with the bread was nice; but alas, the bread was COLD and hard :(
The 2nd main course for me (which came in a HUGE WIDE ROUND plate, with a tiny deep bowl built into it; and the food was only in that tiny bowl), was a rice dish; taste was nice, but too bad the rice was undercooked :( I could taste the hard rice pieces with every bite, so I tried eating a bit more, then just left it.
The dessert was freakin AWESOME!! MMmmmm... melted Chocolate in some kinda awesome mouse layered thing with hazelnuts.. yummy!
On the whole I give it 3 stars, based on the the stale white wine, mama-huhu soup and the undercooked rice. But I might be an exception (dem damn vegetarians!) :D but I think reminiscing about that dessert, just made me edit my review, and add another star.
